COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Jaela Solis, Nashua PAL's Downtown Director, was named National PAL’s 2026 Staff of the Year on May 11 for 17 years of leadership in youth outreach. The award recognizes her work in building community connections — a true mark of her lasting impact.  Nashua Ink Link

CULTURE NEWS

  • Seven celestial events will light up New Hampshire skies this summer - from noctilucent clouds appearing late May to full moons and meteor showers peaking in late June, July, and August. The New Hampshire Astronomical Society will host free stargazing events at Castle in the Clouds and other low-light spots.  Granite Post
  • New Hampshire festival season begins with 15 local events offering food, music and family fun. The Bacon & Beer Festival in Manchester (Jun. 6) leads a lineup that includes Nashua’s Gate City Brewfest on Aug. 22, with more shows planned through late August.  Granite Post

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Brian S. McCarthy Memorial Foundation will host Family STEM Day on Saturday, May 16 at Nashua High School South (36 Riverside Street) from 10am to 2pm. The free event will offer hands-on exhibits and interactive demonstrations to celebrate STEM education.  Nashua Ink Link
  • Eight community colleges in New Hampshire will graduate 347 nursing students this month, the highest number since 2013. Among them, 290 will become registered nurses and 57 will earn practical nursing credentials as local hospitals address staffing shortages.  WMUR

HEALTH NEWS

  • Two New Hampshire residents on the MV Hondius, hit by a deadly hantavirus outbreak, have returned to the United States and are outside New Hampshire as health officials coordinate with federal partners to monitor them if they return, noting there is no current risk for local residents.  WMUR

SPORTS NEWS

  • In Manchester, the Astros beat the Cardinals 9-4 in girls lacrosse, and in boys lacrosse, Pinkerton Academy edged Bishop Guertin 9-8, marking BG's first in-state loss since 2019.  WMUR
