- ➤ For 80 years, Manchester native Edgar Norcross, an 18-year-old Marine killed in World War II, was missing until his remains were confirmed using isotope analysis and DNA sequencing; he will be laid to rest at New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery on Tuesday, July 7 (honoring his service). WMUR
- ➤ Twenty-nine people from 18 countries became U.S. citizens Friday morning at Exeter High School. Many said they fell in love with the country (coming just before the nation's 250th birthday celebration). WMUR
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Students at UNH won $15,000 start-up funding when their virtual reality game studio, Armored Pig Studios, took top prize at the Paul J. Holloway Prize Innovation to Market Competition in Durham yesterday. Second- and third-place finishers received $10,000 and $5,000 prizes respectively — finalists got $1,000 each. WMUR

- ➤ NH Chronicle will feature Renee, who rowed solo across the Atlantic and overcame many obstacles — locals in Merrimack say her contagious smile brightens their community. WMUR
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Chop Shop 166 from Merrimack High School competed in the FIRST Championship in Houston from April 29 through May 2 and reached the finals, finishing 16th in the world + they are set to join off-season tournaments and community outreach events. Nashua Ink Link
- ➤ Nashua South High School advanced to the finals of the GRANITE STATE CHALLENGE by beating Profile High School 415 to 320 in the semifinal. The Purple Panthers led early — scoring in a rapid-fire round — and now prepare for the final challenge on Thursday, May 14 at 8:30 p.m. Nashua Ink Link
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ State and local officials stressed motorcycle safety after 161 riders died in crashes between 2021 and 2025. The governor joined police & a motorcycle rights group on Friday during Motorcycle Awareness Month, urging drivers to avoid distractions and leave riders enough space. WMUR
- ➤ Gov. Ayotte expressed outrage after a House committee voted Wednesday to defer Senate Bill 498 on mandatory mental health coverage for children, saying insurers are delaying needed care. She vowed to keep pushing the bill to ensure safe and coordinated wraparound services in the state (insurers dispute the measure). New Hampshire Bulletin
