COMMUNITY NEWS

  • VFW Post 483 held its annual Loyalty Day Celebration at the Nashua Senior Center on Saturday to honor Nashua's public servants and students — awards were given to a World War II veteran and to local teachers, police officers and firefighters. Gov. Kelly Ayotte and Mayor Jim Donchess spoke at the event while the Air Force ROTC from Nashua North served as the color guard — marking a day of remembrance for veterans and celebration of community service.  Nashua Ink Link
  • The Nash Casino, known as New Hampshire’s largest charitable gaming venue, presented $1.5 million to eight local nonprofit organizations on April 22 (in a brief ceremony) as part of its ongoing support for community groups.  New Hampshire Union Leader

CRIME NEWS

  • Seven people were arrested at 74 Lock St. in Nashua during a drug bust—narcotics investigations began in fall 2023, according to the police.  New Hampshire Union Leader
  • Seven people were arrested in Nashua after police completed a multi-year drug investigation that led them to search a home at 74 Lock Street in fall 2023, where they seized fentanyl, methamphetamine, crack cocaine and Buprenorphine and Naloxone — suspects faced charges for drug sales, resisting arrest and possession, with some released on bail.  WMUR

CULTURE NEWS

  • Symphony NH and InkLink.News are launching a youth program that lets high school students attend and write about the 'It’s All Overtures' concert to share their live music experience. The Inkubator initiative will offer local youth additional chances to participate with concerts on May 10 at 7:30 p.m. and May 18 at 4 p.m. in Concord.  Nashua Ink Link

  • Three New Hampshire firefighters were honored this weekend — Charles Gallant from Rye Fire Rescue, Jeffrey Whitcomb from the Department of Safety, and Lt. and paramedic Jessica Wyman from Nashua Fire Rescue — for their bravery and commitment to protecting others during the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial event in Emmitsburg, Maryland.  WMUR
  • Gov. Kelly Ayotte joined WMUR’s Conversation with the Community series to answer questions about the state budget and phone scams. She discussed tariffs with Canada, plans to lead a trade delegation in September, and efforts to reform housing and permitting—aiming to attract young residents and boost local biotech initiatives.  WMUR

  • The New Hampshire Fisher Cats beat the Portland Sea Dogs by a final score of 1 to 0 in seven innings on May 3 at Delta Dental Stadium thanks to RJ Schreck’s diving catch—stopping a late comeback attempt.
