ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On Thursday morning, one person died after being struck by a car on the southbound Everett Turnpike near Exit 1 at 3:15 a.m. (The roadway was closed for two hours before reopening around 5:30 a.m., causing heavy traffic delays).  WMUR
  • Nashua Fire Department responded to an electric bike fire on Wednesday when a bike caught fire in a fourth-floor apartment at a High Street complex—sprinklers had already activated and firefighters quickly extinguished the flames—leaving extensive damage and prompting officials to advise caution when charging e-bikes, with no injuries reported.  WMUR

  • Thirty-five years have passed since Gregg Smart was shot in Derry on May 1, 1990, and his wife Pamela Smart remains in jail while she backs House Bill 638 to let older murder inmates seek parole+ a vote on the bill is set for next week in the House Criminal Justice Committee.  WMUR
  • A 19-year-old Hudson man was charged with manslaughter and other counts after a fatal crash occurred Wednesday night in Litchfield between a car and a motorcycle, with police alleging the collision was intentional+investigators continue to gather evidence.  New Hampshire Union Leader
  • A 19-year-old Hudson man was arraigned on multiple charges in connection with a fatal Litchfield motorcycle crash on Wednesday night—he was held without bail at his Thursday arraignment.  New Hampshire Union Leader

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Unitil filed a base rate case with the New Hampshire Public Utilities Commission to ask for a higher electric distribution rate that may add about $11 per month for a customer using 600 kilowatt-hours. Unitil said the change will cover rising operating costs—while a state consumer advocate called the request excessive and noted the review could take about a year.  WMUR

  • The Fisher Cats split a Wednesday doubleheader at Delta Dental Stadium—winning game one 3—2 and then losing game two 3—2 to the Sea Dogs.
