- ➤ Officials confirmed that the body of missing Hinsdale man Scott Plante, aged 61, was found Monday in the Ashuelot River while the Marine Patrol investigates, with a Silver Alert issued Saturday, his last contact on April 17, and an autopsy scheduled for today. WMUR
- ➤ Nashua Police detectives arrested a Rivier University contractor — they say he stole over $1,500 worth of medical devices from campus. New Hampshire Union Leader
- ➤ A woman named Ailadi Abreu was sentenced on Monday to two to four years in prison after a 2023 high-speed crash on Exit 5 from I-293 in Manchester killed her fiancé Michael Shattuck during a fight over infidelity—she will be eligible for parole after six months. WMUR

- ➤ New York Times best-selling author Jodi Picoult has partnered with a local musician to add a soundtrack to her newest story. NH Chronicle announced the collaboration, which will bring a musical layer to the narrative. WMUR
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Young plaintiffs including Miles Borne and the Muirheads filed a lawsuit against HB1569 — the state law requiring hard proof of citizenship for voter registration — arguing it will burden their ability to vote when they become eligible by 2026. - ➤ The New Hampshire DMV will open branches in Concord, Manchester and Twin Mountain on Saturday, May 3 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.—services are limited to REAL ID transactions with both appointments and walk-ins accepted. - ➤ State Rep Joe Sweeney claimed New Hampshire students missed spots at UNH because international students, including DACA (temporary protection) applicants, were given preference, citing 2,450 rejection letters over four years. UNH officials said admissions relied on academic readiness and that local students were not being disadvantaged. WMUR
- ➤ Workers began construction at 7 a.m. Monday on the Everett Turnpike just north of the Bedford toll area to install all-electric tolling as part of a $16 million project — crews are using temporary lanes and lane closures from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily to help drivers navigate the work and the effort aims to improve safety on a crash-prone stretch with the first phase set to be completed in June and the full project finishing in fall 2027 — and drivers should expect delays.
