- ➤ Trinity High School mourns 16-year-old Lauren Souza, who died early Sunday morning in a car crash on Back River Road (she was driving home after meeting friends) and the school canceled classes Monday with a delayed opening and early dismissal planned Tuesday (counselors and therapy dogs will support students). - ➤ The 18th annual Nashua International Sculpture Symposium begins May 8 and runs through May 31 as international sculptors create new public artworks for the city. - ➤ Local Catholics were shocked by Pope Francis' passing while Bishop Peter Libasci urged prayers for the church—he asked followers to pray for what comes next. St. Joseph Cathedral in Manchester is holding a Mass at noon today to honor him. WMUR

- ➤ For 20 years, Rocky Morrison cleaned a 45-mile stretch of the Merrimack River with his Clean River Project and now he plans to expand his work into New Hampshire. - ➤ Corrections Commissioner Helen Hanks said that if the House plan is approved, a $21 million cut in the Department of Corrections budget will force nearly 100 layoffs and create safety risks by overworking staff. Senate Finance Committee members and state senators questioned the lack of communication and the impact on inmate programs — officials warn that these cuts could jeopardize both safety and rehabilitation efforts.
