  • The City of Nashua's Mayor's Volunteer Recognition Committee is now accepting nominations for the 2025 Gate City Light Award to honor a local nonprofit and its volunteers for outstanding service.  New Hampshire Union Leader

EDUCATION NEWS

  • A federal judge in Concord is reviewing a request from ACLU lawyers to stop enforcement of a Department of Education letter that asks schools to certify their diversity, equity and inclusion programs do not treat people differently by race—education groups say the letter is chilling classroom discussions. The National Education Association of New Hampshire and other groups are suing the agency, and a decision is expected by next Thursday as schools prepare their certifications.  WMUR

  • Beginning May 7, drivers' licenses must be Real ID compliant to be accepted at airports and federal buildings across the country. Residents needing an update should schedule an appointment at the DMV and bring documents proving identity, Social Security number, and NH residency—steps required to meet the new rules.  WMUR
  • U.S. Rep. Maggie Goodlander from Nashua told News 9 on Thursday that she will not run for U.S. Senate in 2026. She said she will seek re-election to the House and supports Rep. Chris Pappas in the Senate race.  WMUR

  • Southern New Hampshire Medical Center's The Birth Place offers expert maternity care with private birthing suites and a team that includes OB/GYN specialists, nurse practitioners, and certified lactation consultants (supporting mothers from pregnancy through post-partum recovery).   • Some New Hampshire lawmakers have proposed bills that include penalties for doctors who do not follow specific mandates, and critics say these measures may limit physicians’ ability to care for patients. Experts warn that the bills (House Bill 10, House Bill 232, and House Bill 377) could drive doctors away from the state and worsen access to care, especially in rural areas.  New Hampshire Bulletin
