COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Alanna Flood is raising funds for Special Olympics New Hampshire during her Boston Marathon journey — local supporters share encouraging messages to boost the effort.  WMUR
  • Kendall Laroche, a 15-year-old Miss New Hampshire Teen contestant, champions breast cancer awareness by involving young girls in community service at her dance studio—she plans to support them as her competition events kick off on Apr. 29 and May 1.  WMUR

CULTURE NEWS

  • On March 28, a chamber concert featuring Symphony NH musicians impressed local audiences with well-balanced ensembles and lively musical exchanges, as noted by music student Faye Jones (from Nashua Community Music School). EDUCATION NEWS

  • On Tuesday, Apr. 14, Kevin Skarupa visited Sunset Heights Elementary, Nottingham West Elementary, and Grinnell Elementary. He taught weather concepts to kindergartners, third graders, and first graders—highlighting topics like snowflakes, lightning, and weather stories while receiving thoughtful gifts from the students.  WMUR

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • A volunteer mission aims to help salamanders and frogs cross safely during their annual migration when conditions are rainy and warm (March to May); locals can join by contacting the Nashua Conservation Commission.  Nashua Ink Link

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • State leaders are launching the New Hampshire Council for Responsible Gaming to help connect Granite Staters with resources to overcome problem gambling. The council includes Nashua Mayor Jim Donchess & will host a summer series with national experts to promote responsible gaming.  WMUR

HEALTH NEWS

  • Melissa Wu, a breast cancer survivor who has completed 40 marathons, will run her first Boston Marathon this year. She remains focused on beating challenges + inspiring the community.  WMUR

SPORTS NEWS

  • Nashua North High School varsity baseball team won its season opener by beating Manchester Memorial 12-2 in a game that featured strong efforts from relief pitcher and third baseman Brayden Ouellet. They will host Pinkerton Academy Friday at 4:00 p.m.  Nashua Ink Link
