COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The New Hampshire Food Bank secured a $750,000 grant from Feeding America to boost its Fresh Rescue program, which recovers fresh surplus food from retailers statewide. It will use the funds over the next 18 months to hire new coordinators, add refrigerated cargo vans, and upgrade cold storage for its network.  Nashua Ink Link
  • The Mayor’s Volunteer Recognition Committee is accepting nominations for the 2026 Gate City Light Award to honor a Nashua-based nonprofit and its volunteers for exceptional service. Nominees may submit now for this local honor.  New Hampshire Union Leader

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Granite State honored Gen. John Stark on Monday, Apr. 13 in a ceremony that recognized his Revolutionary War service and credited him with writing the state motto 'Live Free or Die.' Gov. Kelly Ayotte said his legacy inspires generations of service.  WMUR

  • On Monday, a legislative committee approved Senate Bill 101 that would let families choose any public school while districts set student limits. Lawmakers plan to send it to Gov. Kelly Ayotte if the full House approves it.  WMUR

SPORTS NEWS

  • Nashua South High School varsity girls lacrosse team (Purple Panthers) earned its first win Monday as it beat Manchester Central West 16 to 3. The team scored eight goals in the first quarter and will face Salem High School Wednesday as it works on refining its offense.  Nashua Ink Link
