  • Esme—a 5-year-old pit bull mix from Live Free Animal Rescue in Pelham—had a rough start when she was used as a bait dog, but she now enjoys quiet moments on the couch and is looking for a new home. She will do best in a house with a fenced yard as she adjusts to walking on a leash.  WMUR
  • St. Joseph Hospital’s Grey Nuns Thrift Shop, located at 11 Main Street, helps local residents by offering affordable goods through a voucher program—partnering with 29 local agencies to meet growing needs. The shop, which moved to a small storefront on Library Hill three years ago, also hosts Mission Meals and Medical events with a mobile health clinic—serving our community with care.  Nashua Ink Link

CRIME NEWS

  • A New Hampshire State Police trooper shot 28-year-old Moriah Infinjer after a chase early Sunday morning near the Rochester—Dover city lines on Route 16 when she sped away from troopers trying to stop her, and she was taken to a hospital for injuries that were not serious—while both lanes of the Spaulding Turnpike from exits 6 to 8 were closed for police action.  WMUR
  • Eric Lord allegedly robbed a TD Bank in New Ipswich on April 2nd—he also robbed the same bank in 2014—and was arrested on April 4th, facing charges of robbery, theft and criminal threatening.  WMUR

CULTURE NEWS

  • Roger Kalia will conduct his final concert as Nashua Music Director on April 19 at 7:30 p.m. at the Nashua Center for the Arts, where a pre-concert talk (at 6:30 p.m.) will introduce a program of classic overtures (tickets begin at $32) presented by Symphony New Hampshire.  Nashua Ink Link

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The New Hampshire Department of Transportation will begin resurfacing parts of the Everett Turnpike on Sunday at the northbound and southbound Exit 5 interchanges in Nashua. Crews will work from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. (weather permitting) each night for about one month, and drivers are advised to stay alert in the work zones.  WMUR
  • NH health care leaders gathered at the Mental Health Center of Greater Manchester after the House passed a budget that cuts Medicaid rates and mental health services—The $16 billion biennial budget now moves to the Senate for review.  Nashua Ink Link
  • New Hampshire faces a challenge funding repairs for 276 state-owned dams as current capital improvements stretch repairs over a 100-year plan—33 of the 64 high-hazard dams are in poor condition. Lawmakers continue to debate a sustainable funding model that includes increased fees to better protect water bodies.  New Hampshire Bulletin
  • Historical records show that on December 24th, 1940 the Nashua Police Department received new .38 caliber service revolvers and tested an emergency radio connection in July 1941 while also founding a relief association in September 1941. The report details wartime measures in 1942, post-war plans for modernizing the department and increasing its budget, and the start of parking meter fines in November 1946 — all marking key milestones in the department’s evolution.  Nashua Ink Link
