COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Downtown Nashua's new Third Thursdays series will begin on Thursday, April 17+ as local businesses and restaurants offer discounts, giveaways and special deals+ to invite community members downtown.  New Hampshire Union Leader

CRIME NEWS

  • A 47-year-old man was arrested early Saturday afternoon after allegedly exposing himself and threatening someone with a gun near South Willow Street—police later detained him in a hair salon and charged him with criminal threatening with a deadly weapon and indecent exposure.  WMUR
  • A loaded gun was detected in a man's carry-on bag at Manchester-Boston Regional Airport Wednesday morning—TSA officers later handed the 9mm to Londonderry police after the 45-year-old said he forgot it was in his bag, marking the first gun found at the airport this year and the second at a New Hampshire airport.  WMUR
  • At 3:30 a.m. on Saturday, New Hampshire State Police reported a wrong-way driver on I-93 in Londonderry and Massachusetts State Police stopped the vehicle just over the state line where they arrested a 38 year old woman, with charges expected in New Hampshire.  WMUR

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Nashua Mayor Jim Donchess asked the Board of Aldermen to approve nearly a 6% budget increase for next year to help address funding challenges from federal and state cuts (he warned these cuts could harm first responders and Medicaid services).  WMUR
  • The House approved a bill on Thursday that will require landfill permit applications to include detailed plans for treating trash juice—leachate formed when rain mixes with waste. The law aims to protect the environment and public health after violations were found at several landfills.  New Hampshire Bulletin

SPORTS NEWS

  • Snow led the Fisher Cats and Sea Dogs to postpone their April 12 game at Hadlock Field—the match will now start in a doubleheader today at 1 p.m. EDT.  Nashua Ink Link
  • On Friday night, the New Hampshire Fisher Cats rallied from a 3 to 1 deficit to beat the Portland Sea Dogs 4 to 3 in 10 innings with a go-ahead double by third baseman Charles McAdoo that drove in left fielder RJ Schreck. The team held off a late surge as its bullpen stayed scoreless in the final innings.  Nashua Ink Link
