- ➤ Nashua’s Pop-Up Pantries have provided free fresh produce five days a week in food deserts for five years and have served over 40,000 residents since starting April 7, 2020. The program will move outdoors April 14 and run until Oct. 31 — volunteers distribute food at five city sites without any paperwork required. Nashua Ink Link
- ➤ Downtown Nashua will host its first Third Thursdays event on April 17 from 3 to 8 p.m. Local shops and restaurants will offer discounts, special food and drink deals, and free offerings while parking is available in the public garages on Elm Street and High/Factory Street. Nashua Ink Link

- ➤ Business owners in the Lakes Region report a resale scam that caused a loss of $6,400 at a Laconia auto shop as scammers used stolen credit card numbers to cancel payments & 12 other stores reported similar losses. WMUR

- ➤ Authorities detained a man at Nashua Circuit Court for a DUI arraignment and later transferred him to ICE custody at the Rio Grande Processing Center in Texas—ATF agents said they were there on orders to secure illegal immigrants during court hearings, and a Hudson officer assisted amid an altercation that injured an older man using a cane. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ On Thursday, the House passed a budget plan that cuts about 10% from the judicial branch and enforces a hiring freeze with a full review due by July. Chief Justice Gordon MacDonald warned that if the proposal is finalized, courthouse closings, delayed trials, and reduced jury opportunities may follow—state Senate will now consider the budget. WMUR
- ➤ Today local control advocates at the State House oppose housing bills that would force state zoning rules on towns — saying local municipalities already review their own ordinances. State Rep. Len Turcotte and Margaret Byrnes of the New Hampshire Municipal Association stress that decisions on affordable housing should be made locally — warning that special interests push for one size fits all rules. - ➤ The final two proposals for Elm Street Middle School redevelopment (by Lansing Melbourne Group and Pennrose) were chosen after they presented their early-stage housing plans last Thursday.
