BUSINESS NEWS

  • Mark Bernal, the meat and seafood manager at Hannaford in Raymond, has prepared steaks for NASA space missions with his wife for 14 years; the steaks are picked up by Natick Labs in Massachusetts then shipped to Johnson Space Center in Texas — each order takes two weeks.  WMUR

CULTURE NEWS

  • Andres Institute of Art in Brookline will host its 3rd annual Earth Day benefit concert on Saturday, Apr. 18. Local bands Jamdemic and The Mighty Colors will perform to raise funds for the institute and Beaver Brook Association; tickets cost $25.  Nashua Ink Link

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Nashua Community College held its 40th Microelectronics Boot Camp graduation on April 8, preparing local graduates to enter the microelectronics workforce.  New Hampshire Union Leader

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Starting May 1, officials require overnight campers in the Pemigewasset Wilderness to store food, trash, and scented items (such as soap and lip balm) in certified bear-resistant canisters. The new rule comes after a rise in bear encounters and violations may lead to fines.  WMUR

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Gov. Kelly Ayotte submitted a statement on April 1 showing New Hampshire’s interest in a federal nuclear lifecycle campus near Seabrook to improve the grid & lower costs while drawing support from local companies such as NextEra and StarCube.  Nashua Ink Link

SPORTS NEWS

  • Marathon runner Marcos De Sa shared advice with WMUR’s Alanna Flood ahead of the Boston Marathon, including tips for a challenging 16th race route that crosses a local bridge. His segment airs at 5 p.m. today (the blog also supports a Special Olympics New Hampshire fundraiser).  WMUR
  • Nashua native Ebuka Okorie, an 18-year-old Stanford freshman (averaging 23 points per game), declared for the 2026 NBA Draft and is projected to be picked late in the first round, which would make him the first New Hampshire player selected that way.  WMUR
  • On Tuesday, the Fisher Cats set a record by scoring eight runs without a hit in the second inning of their game against the Portland Sea Dogs and achieved this feat twice before winning 12-7.  WMUR
