- ➤ Team Hoyt's legacy carries forward as Troy Hoyt will run in Boston for the foundation and the community will join the Team Hoyt Taper Memorial Race in Hopkinton on Saturday (renamed in honor of Dick and Rick Hoyt) to celebrate inclusion in athletics. WMUR
- ➤ Merrimack Ten Pin hosts a senior bowling league every Wednesday afternoon, offering exercise and friendly conversation for retired bowlers. The 30-year-old venue spans 30,000 sqft (with 28 lanes) and currently holds 92 bowlers in 24 teams. WMUR
- ➤ This weekend brings many local events—from the 31st NSKS Annual Run/Walk for Food and Shelter in Nashua at Rivier University starting Sunday at 1 pm to Kids Con New England and an 80s drag brunch on Sunday, plus library storytimes, art workshops and markets in the region—offering activities for all ages. ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Gas prices in the Granite State have risen to over $4 per gallon, nearly 70 cents higher than a month ago, according to AAA. The rate is still below the national average of $4.16 and about $1 more than last year, leaving local drivers with higher fuel costs. WMUR
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Boys and Girls Club of Greater Nashua is expanding its Early Learning Center to serve more children, now offering care for ages 6 weeks to 12 years as part of a multi-year campaign addressing community needs. - ➤ Lawmakers are debating Senate Bill 434 to let families challenge public school materials if they see content they believe could harm children+ if signed by Gov. Kelly Ayotte, schools must follow the process by November. WMUR
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Local health leaders are concerned that rural hospitals face losing services like emergency and maternity care due to rising costs, workforce shortages, and federal funding uncertainty. Some facilities have already closed and over $200 million from a federal program is expected to help stabilize these hospitals. WMUR
- ➤ A judge ordered homeless man Nearro Forbes (41) to remain in quarantine at Elliot Hospital after he missed months of tuberculosis treatment, a measure intended to reduce the risk of spreading the disease. WMUR
