  • The New Hampshire Food Bank will receive $750,000 from Feeding America to strengthen retailer partnerships and feed Granite Staters in need this year as Hannaford donates 5 million pounds of safe food (about 4 million meals) to local hunger relief.  WMUR
  • Za Dude Pizza Company won the inaugural Nashua Ink Link Pizza Madness Tournament with 81.8% of the vote, beating Bob’s Pizza (9.1%), Buxton’s (7.6%), and Spyglass Brewery (1.5%). The pizza shop also announced on Facebook that it will soon return to Main Street.  Nashua Ink Link
  • Oaklyn Neilson (6) reached an impressive milestone by completing his 100th hike up a 4,000-foot peak after finishing all 48 mountains last fall; his achievement celebrates local outdoor activity.  WMUR

  • Symphony NH will present New Hampshire Passions at the Keefe Center for the Arts on Saturday, April 18, blending Romantic, modern and contemporary works + featuring guest composer David Ibbett and astrophysicist Sheperd Doeleman in a multimedia journey that translates distant light into sound.  Nashua Ink Link

  • Kevin Skarupa recapped his recent visits to Heron Pond Elementary in Milford, Pembroke Hill School, and Birch Hill Elementary in Nashua, where students learned about weather topics such as the water cycle, tornadoes, and cloud types.  WMUR
  • Eleanor Gorman earned the Girl Scouts’ Silver Award after creating a project to teach Girl Scouts about women’s rights by guiding them through steps that include learning about historical figures and donating books to a local library.  WMUR

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Maria Wilson checked roads after an April snowfall gave drivers a wintry feel. New Hampshire DOT crews treated a main highway earlier and conditions improved by 12:43 p.m. as temperatures near 40 F helped clear lingering snow.  WMUR
  • On Monday, lawmakers examined SB 540, a bill that would set safety rules for plug-in solar devices allowing residents to generate power from portable panels. The proposal would limit each home to one system with a 1,200-watt cap - measures aimed at preventing electrical risks and lowering bills.  New Hampshire Bulletin
  • Attorney General John Formella warned Granite Staters today to be wary of deceptive investment ads on Facebook, Instagram & WhatsApp that misuse celebrity images like Kevin O’Leary’s while promising guaranteed returns, and he advised residents to verify any offers before investing.  Nashua Ink Link

  • State health officials say a man suspected of having tuberculosis was taken into custody on an unrelated warrant and is now held in quarantine in Manchester.  New Hampshire Union Leader

  • Former UNH hockey star and orthopedic surgeon Thomas Fortney performed New England’s first robotic-assisted shoulder replacement in December at New Hampshire Orthopaedic Center in Bedford & he will discuss his innovative technique on April 15 at The Hotel Concord.  WMUR
