COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The New Hampshire Food Bank helps 120,000 community members daily by distributing a record 20 million pounds of food to 414 local agencies and cooking 4,500 to 6,500 meals each week; it now seeks private donations after losing $1 million in federal support.  WMUR

EDUCATION NEWS

  • FIRST Robotics Team Phoenix from the Academy for Science and Design in Nashua was honored with the Sustainability Award at the New England FIRST Robotics Competition District Event at the University of Vermont – team member Abi Appusamy was named a FIRST Leadership Award Semi-Finalist and will compete at the New England District Championship soon.  Nashua Ink Link

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Major private employers and renewable energy advocates have asked a House committee to let industrial customers generate and sell five times more excess electricity. The group hopes this change will expand renewable energy options for local facilities.  New Hampshire Union Leader

HEALTH NEWS

  • David Geaney, a retired Air Force veteran from Weare who carved thousands of wooden crosses to offer hope to cancer patients, died in 2025. His wife Teresa continues his legacy by sending prayer cards with each cross to comfort those in need.  WMUR
  • Public Health Week kicked off yesterday with local leaders, including Mayor Jim Donchess and Congresswoman Maggie Goodlander, recognizing community groups for their work in keeping Nashua healthy.   • Catholic Medical Center completed a $2.7 million upgrade of its EP 2 Lab last month to improve cardiac care + support essential services for local patients.  New Hampshire Union Leader
  • A homeless man with tuberculosis—identified as Nearro Forbes who had missed treatment and was court-ordered to isolate—was found and taken to Elliot Hospital. Nashua public health officials continue contact tracing to limit any spread.  WMUR
  • Some New Hampshire firefighters began a new state-funded cancer screening program Monday in Concord that uses CT scans, full-body ultrasounds, and blood tests to catch cancer early, following a $5 million funding appropriation. Retired Nashua Fire Chief Glenn Telgen said the tests are essential for firefighter health.  WMUR

  • Manchester's Jim Glenn broke two Guinness world records at Saturday's Cheap Marathon in Windham by posting the fastest times for runners with two knee replacements and a hip replacement. He finished in 5:15:31 and said he ran to show that life goes on after joint replacement.  WMUR
