CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Alyssa Jones, 23, of Hampton crashed her Honda Accord on Route 101 in Bedford after hitting a guardrail and striking another vehicle on the Everett Turnpike near Exit 11—she was charged with DWI and felony reckless conduct with a deadly weapon, released on cash bail, and will be arraigned in April as state police continue their investigation. - ➤ A suspect named Bradford Maker was arraigned yesterday after a police chase near The Mall at Rockingham Park in Salem that began Thursday in Massachusetts and moved into New Hampshire, and his bail was set at $25,000 as he faces charges including reckless operation, speeding, failure to stop, and driving an unregistered, uninsured vehicle. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ New Hampshire Fish and Game officials warned Granite Staters that hungry black bears are coming out of their winter dens and asked residents to remove bird feeders by April 1—bears may search feeders and garbage for food. They also urged people with backyard poultry to secure their birds. WMUR
- ➤ Kevin Skarupa is tracking a storm system that will bring snow, wintry mix and rain over the weekend, making travel difficult in parts of New Hampshire. Precipitation will begin tonight and hit its coldest phase today with rains continuing into Monday (winter storm watches are in effect for northern areas). WMUR
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The New Hampshire House approved House Bill 316 to end balance billing for ambulance rides by setting a fixed rate every two years—calculated by an independent expert—with a vote of 250-85. The bill now heads to the Senate and governor and will protect patients from unexpected costs. New Hampshire Bulletin
- ➤ Gov. Kelly Ayotte said on Friday that she will not support a proposal to defund the Office of Child Advocate as the state prepares a new two-year budget—she said the office is needed to help keep children safe. Cassandra Sanchez, who has served since April 2022, added that her office helps expose unsafe care conditions and prevent large legal settlements. WMUR
- ➤ Sen. Jeanne Shaheen reintroduced the Manufactured Housing Tenants Bill of Rights on Thursday to give mobile home park residents clear protections from rent hikes and evictions when park owners use federal financing. The bill would require a 60-day notice before a park sale to give residents time to explore a purchase+ it aims to help curb New Hampshire’s affordable housing crisis. Nashua Ink Link
- ➤ The New Hampshire Department of Labor is taking steps to terminate administrative judge Richard Brown after court records revealed he pled guilty to money laundering, grand theft and filing false insurance claims in Florida, and News 9 Investigates uncovered his criminal record during his hiring in May. Gov. Kelly Ayotte said the hiring process failed — and the department will continue to move forward until his employment is ended. WMUR

- ➤ Revive Recovery Resource Center launched its Overdose Prevention Van on March 27 to provide lifesaving care and connect individuals with essential health and social services in Greater Nashua.
