COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Nashua Center was named the 2025 Neighborhood Builder by Bank of America, receiving a $50K grant + leadership training over two years to expand services for over 300 locals with developmental disabilities. The award will fund building improvements at its 31-year facility.  Nashua Ink Link
  • The local Pizza Madness Tournament is underway with the first elimination round two days in and votes accepted until midnight on March 23; regional finals begin Tuesday, April 24 as local pizza places compete for the top spot.  Nashua Ink Link
  • Governor Kelly Ayotte tapped trees at Sunnyside Maples in Loudon on Thursday to kick off New Hampshire Maple Weekend — a tradition where sugarhouses invite visitors to see how syrup is made throughout March. CULTURE NEWS

  • Bernice Blake Perry broke aviation barriers as New Hampshire's first pilot at 19 and New England's first commercial pilot at 22 & her legacy was honored by Milford Historical Society with a plaque in 2021. Her groundbreaking career and local impact continue to inspire residents.  WMUR
  • Lil Wayne is set to perform at BankNH Pavilion in Gilford on July 3 as part of his 20 Years of Carter Classics tour. Tickets go on sale at (10 a.m. Friday) for the summer event.  WMUR
  • Sugar houses open their doors for Maple Weekend, letting locals preview the tapping and boiling process behind New England maple syrup. Gov. Kelly Ayotte tapped a tree at Sunnyside Maples in Loudon today + celebrated over 350 statewide maple producers.  WMUR

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Years after COVID first disrupted child care in March 2020, local centers still face staffing shortages and enrollment challenges as higher costs strain operations. Lawmakers and education leaders are testing new funding ideas (including grants and tax credits) to support quality care.  Nashua Ink Link

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Fisher Cats will open their season when they host the Binghamton Rumble Ponies on Friday, April 3 at 6:03 p.m. at Delta Dental Stadium. A new LED video board in left field and updated in house concessions will enhance the fan experience.  WMUR
  • Dwight Davis — a former NBA star and Newfields resident — returned to his Houston alma mater in January to have his No.42 jersey retired in a packed arena, recognizing his celebrated career and community service. The honored event marked a cherished milestone in his ongoing legacy.  WMUR
  • Robert Parish, known as 'The Chief,' signed copies of his memoir at Balin Books in Nashua on Thursday. The NBA Hall of Famer spent two hours with fans and said he is most proud of having his Celtics number retired (a career milestone).  WMUR
  • After just a few March Madness games, Granite Staters have placed over 200,000 bets worth nearly $10 million, and the New Hampshire Lottery projects 700,000 bets in total as betting grows; executive director Charlie McIntyre expects a rise from last year’s $30 million to about $35 million.  WMUR
