  • Hillsborough County gained less than 2% in population between 2020 and 2024 from immigration and 800 more births than deaths+ the area recorded the second worst growth rate, while Coos County declined and Carrol County experienced the highest growth during this period.  New Hampshire Union Leader

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Local brewers face rising costs as tariffs on imported malt and aluminum may change beer flavors and prices in Nashua & Manchester. The NH's Cask Ale Festival will be held on Sunday, March 23 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. as a local celebration of traditional brewing.  Nashua Ink Link

CRIME NEWS

  • Kenneth Hansen (49) was arrested on March 17 at Monaghan Manor apartments on Myrtle Street after he allegedly pointed a gun at a neighbor during a dispute, and he now faces charges of criminal threatening with a deadly weapon, felon in possession of a dangerous weapon, and felonious use of a firearm.  Nashua Ink Link
  • A Kensington man has been indicted on charges of forgery and financial exploitation of an older adult after he allegedly signed the older man's name to transfer vehicle ownership without permission.  New Hampshire Union Leader
  • Three Dominican men were arrested March 18 in Nashua and are charged with conspiracy to distribute cocaine and crack as part of Operation Take Back America+ federal agents said they sold drugs to law enforcement more than 10 times.  Nashua Ink Link

CULTURE NEWS

  • Tonight, several young women business owners will apply their art to unique canvases like custom shoes, fingernails, and skin in Nashua. The State Orchid Society will host its annual show next weekend featuring over fifty orchid types, and in Mason, Chuck and Sue Anderson run a greenhouse that grows thousands of varieties (Audrey Cox found that beginners can care for these blossoms with simple tips).  WMUR

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • U.S. Rep. Chris Pappas confirmed on Tuesday that he was considering a Senate run after Sen. Jeanne Shaheen announced she would not seek reelection. Pappas is speaking with voters about key issues (a decision he has mulled for some time) and a House source said Rep. Maggie Goodlander is also considering a run (although no timeline has been set).  WMUR
  • Nashua officials will hold public meetings to discuss redeveloping the former Elm Street Middle School building that closed last year when the new Brian McCarthy Middle School opened—residents may offer feedback on the project’s plans.  New Hampshire Union Leader
