- ➤ Ray Brewer signed off WMUR for the final time today — he began his career on St. Patrick's Day 28 years ago and made his final appearance on News 9 at Noon — as he retires after decades of service to New Hampshire viewers. WMUR
- ➤ The New Hampshire Food Bank held its 9th annual Steel Chef Challenge Monday at the Armory Ballroom at the Doubletree by Hilton in Manchester, where top chefs including celebrity chef Marcus Samuelsson competed in a live timed cooking contest with WMUR's Erin Fehlau serving as emcee. Gov- Kelly Ayotte attended and praised the food bank's efforts across the state. WMUR
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Mary Corliss is accused of starting a fire at her Webster home in February that trapped her two children (aged 9 and 4) and caused burns and smoke inhalation as she allegedly hit a police officer and made odd statements; she will enter an insanity plea at a hearing at 1 p.m. today while her mental health records remain sealed. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Nashua School District discussed budget challenges on March 15—facing a mayor’s 3% increase guideline that may force cuts to up to 70 personnel—and the district risks losing $4.7 million in funding unless measures are taken. The Board of Education will meet on March 31, hold a public hearing on April 2, and vote on April 3 to decide the next steps. Nashua Ink Link

- ➤ Fabian Schmidt, a 34-year-old electrical engineer and Nashua resident with a green card, was taken into ICE custody on March 7 at Boston Logan International Airport after flying from Luxembourg; his family said he was violently interrogated—stripped naked and put in a cold shower—and is now sick with influenza B. - ➤ Senator Maggie Hassan met with school officials Monday to demand a full report on the PowerSchool breach that affected thousands of local students after a delay in notification and basic security flaws were discovered. The breach, which exposed names—ages and addresses, led PowerSchool to offer two years of identity protection for affected staff and students. WMUR
