ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A 60-year-old man from Manchester was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a pickup truck near Second and Harvell Streets—police said the driver was not injured—and authorities are investigating the crash. WMUR
- ➤ A 12-year-old boy from Boscawen was pinned under a falling spruce tree while walking home from the bus stop earlier this month, had pelvic surgery, and is now undergoing MRI exams at Boston Children's Hospital to check for brain damage as his family helps him understand the accident. WMUR
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Rivier University held a Holi Festival on Friday in the courtyard outside the Resurrection Chapel where students tossed bright powder to mark new beginnings. The event aimed to share Indian culture with the university community and Nashua residents. Nashua Ink Link
- ➤ A NH couple met for the first time on the Jeopardy! set during the March 13 broadcast—where two Berks County high school graduates competed as one of three contestants answering trivia questions. New Hampshire Union Leader
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ More than 8,500 postal workers have accepted an early retirement incentive, including 50 workers here, as the USPS works with the Department of Government Efficiency on its budget — Postmaster General Louis DeJoy said the agency will cut 10,000 jobs in the next 30 days while union leaders note that 1,500 employees who declined the offer will not face layoffs. - ➤ A panel of state Supreme Court justices ruled in favor of Kim Kleiner, Nashua's former director of administrative services, and dismissed the Ortolano complaint in one of several lawsuits. The decision moves the legal process forward while other claims remain unresolved. New Hampshire Union Leader
- ➤ On April 1, 1936, a banquet honored Chief Irving Goodwin for 20 years as Nashua's police chief + later that year, an investigation began over concerns he let illegal bookmaking run unchecked, leading to his suspension on February 2, 1937 and his resignation on October 8; he later worked in real estate and died on September 18, 1949.
