- ➤ At Southern New Hampshire Medical Center on Sunday, roughly 100 supporters watched a Nashua firefighter injured in the Feb. 2 gas explosion leave the hospital in a hero's sendoff as he begins a long recovery before returning to duty. Nashua Ink Link
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ The third firefighter injured in a natural gas explosion at the Greater Nashua Mental Health building was released from hospital after nearly two weeks of treatment (he is expected to take an extended break from work) while the other two continue to recover. WMUR
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Harbor Avenue got its name from an old settler refuge built when early Nashua residents sought shelter during Indian attacks. Its name commemorates the former garrison near Bowers St., a key landmark in the city’s history. Nashua Ink Link

- ➤ Fred Kocher interviewed Phil Sletten of the NH Fiscal Policy Institute to explain a shift in state revenue where lottery receipts & tax amnesty filled gaps from lower business and liquor taxes. Future budgets may face challenges if current trends continue. WMUR
- ➤ House Bill 1275, introduced by Rep. Wendy Thomas, calls for a five-year halt on using sludge containing PFAS (forever chemicals) on farmland and would set up a relief fund to help farmers cover testing and remediation costs after a Feb. 10 hearing. New Hampshire Bulletin
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ A 15-year-old boy was rescued from Mount Washington at 1 p.m. on Sunday after suffering an allergic reaction near the summit buildings — Boy Scouts from Connecticut provided first aid until a state park employee helped move him indoors — and he was taken to a local hospital for treatment. WMUR
- ➤ Jessica Campbell, Manager of Staff Development at Harbor Care, was honored last week in Washington, D.C. with the National Emerging Leader Award by the Geiger Gibson Program, which partners with the National Association of Community Health Centers.
