ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ An interactive map now shows snowfall totals across New Hampshire for Jan. 25-27 after a heavy storm left Newton with 23.6 inches of snow — crews are still clearing roads along the seacoast. WMUR
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Thursday morning, the state Senate approved an amendment that allows public school events (including sports) to be recorded without explicit parental consent. The fix addresses confusion from a strict interpretation of the parental bill of rights and will take effect once signed by the governor. WMUR
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Dr. Sara Crockett of Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center warned residents not to eat snow because it may be contaminated from air pollutants (snow crystallizes as a filter for contaminants) and urged the community to enjoy winter activities safely. WMUR
- ➤ The Vermont Health Department is investigating a Legionnaires' disease outbreak in Windsor that has resulted in 6 confirmed cases + 1 death at Cedar Hill Continuing Care Community. It has alerted local New Hampshire health providers to watch for symptoms. WMUR
