GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ On Jan. 9, the New Hampshire Department of Transportation announced winners of its Name a Plow contest, recognizing meteorologist Kevin Skarupa as "Skarupa Snow Scoopah" among seven winning entries from over 600 suggestions. The contest also includes names such as Wicked Plowah and Sled Zeppelin celebrating Granite State pride. WMUR
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ New numbers from the state health department show a more than 10% rise in flu cases with 12 deaths recorded, including six in the last week. Epidemiologist Dr. Benjamin Chan said flu activity usually peaks early in the year and advised staying home when sick, covering coughs and washing hands. WMUR
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ On Friday night, Nashua South lost 78-66 to Trinity in a Division-I boys basketball game held in Manchester. The team struggled with turnovers and missed free throws while Trinity built a balanced offense to move up in the standings. Nashua Ink Link
